Mike Schlitz
Mike Schlitz* has more than 32 years of nuclear management experience with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and U.S. Department of Defense, including 20 years with the U.S. Navy. At Y-12, he served as operations manager responsible for the operations and maintenance of a Category II nuclear facility in accordance with DOE Orders and Directives. Before that, he served as a shift technical advisor, ensuring disciplined operational compliance.
Mike Schlitz’s career began with the U.S. Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. His naval service included being a staff member for a submarine squadron, assisting nuclear submarines in preparations for the operational Reactor Safeguard Examination. He was stationed out of Charleston, South Carolina. He also served as project manager for the environmental remediation and radiological cleanup of dry-dock and piers in Charleston and as senior engineering advisor, supervising employees performing maintenance and operations of a submarine nuclear propulsion plant.
Mike Schlitz holds a master’s in business administration from the University of Tennessee and a B.S. in nuclear engineering technology from Thomas Edison State College.
